James Franco to attend SAG Awards amid sexual harassment allegations

James Franco is on a winning streak, bagging all the major awards of the season for his impeccable portrayal of Greg Sestero in the critically acclaimed movie, ‘The Disaster Artist’. But the recent sexual misconduct allegations against the actor may cast a shadow on his Oscar winning chances.

Franco won the awards for best actor in comedy at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globes and the best actor awards at Detroit Film Critics Society Awards, Gotham Awards, and Houston Film Critics Society Awards, beating some of the biggest actors of Hollywood.

Franco recently collected one of  Hollywood’s top acting prizes at the Golden Globe Awards, which incidentally was a stage to condemn sexual harassment faced by women. James Franco denouncing sexual harassment at Golden Globes venue by wearing Time’s Up pin infuriated many actresses and the alleged victims.

Sarah Tither-Kaplan, one of the 5 women who accused Franco for molesting her, said that seeing him wear the pin was like a slap in her face.

Although, Casey Affleck was honored with an Oscar for best actor at the 88th Oscars for his movie ‘Manchester by the Sea’ despite the sexual allegations against him. But considering the ameliorating momentum of women rights movements, Franco’s chance of winning the Oscars is far lesser than he had been for Affleck.

The issue came to light when Sarah Tither-Kaplan, Violet Paley, and actress Ally Sheedy raised the allegations against Franco via Twitter. In a Times article many women have made further claims of inappropriate sexual behavior against James Franco.
