Malayalam actress Kavya Madhavan made her debut in 1991 as a child artist in Pookkalam Varavayi. Her debut role as a lead actress was in Lal Jose’s Chandranudikkunna Dikhil in 1999 and it was when she was in the ninth grade. The movie’s success in box-office established her status as a leading actress in the industry during the 2000s. She has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress twice, for her performances in Perumazhakkalam (in 2004) and Gaddama (in 2010).
Though Kavya Madhavan is now taking a break from the movie industry after her marriage with Dileep, she has been in the news lately for various reasons.
According to latest reports, the actress has been featured in Yahoo India’s top 10 list of most searched female celebrities from India.
On the past years, the list have been traditionally dominated by top Bollywood divas and this is the first time a Malayalam actress found her position. While Sunny Leone topped the list, Kavya Madhavan acquired the 9th most searched actress position.
Kavya Madhavan, who made her entry to films as a child artist, does enjoy a huge fan base. However, this time it was the controversies surrounding Kavya’s alleged involvement in the actress abduction case that led her to cement a position in the list.
On earlier this year Kavya Madhavan and her mother were questioned by a special investigation team from Kerala Police, probing the alleged abduction and rape of a popular south Indian actress.
Her husband Dileep was arrested in the molestation case and remanded into judicial custody for about 3 months. The police had previously conducted a raid in Kavya Madhavan’s online boutique ‘Lakshyah’ on suspicion that a memory card, containing the video recording of the molestation. Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case told the police that after committing the crime, he had handed over the memory card at ‘Laksyah’. Reportedly, Pulsar Suni told the police that he had worked as driver for Kavya Madhavan for two months, but Kavya Madhavan denied the statement.
On the work side, she has been seen in Pinneyum directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
