NY,Oct06:The show was a cult favourite during its run on screens, with lead character Buffy played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Creator of the universe, Joss Whedon, is set to make a return with a new comic adventure focused on Giles, who was Buffy’s mentor in the series.
The show’s creator will co-pen four comics called Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Giles, which will see the character enroll in a high school undercover.
Show fans will recall that Giles was killed at the end of season eight, but was resurrected in season nine.
However, he returned in the body of a ten year old, though his mind was still that of adult Giles.
The new comic series will see the now teenager head to high school far away from Sunnydale, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of teachers.
Whedon told The AV Club: “Sunnydale was, apart from being on a hellmouth, a pretty privileged place.
“Giles has never really dealt with the public school system as it exists for most kids.
“He’s never been to the city. Giles has always had the advantage of being a part of the system that educated him. He was taught to be a watcher in a family of watchers.
“His education was, in the grand British public school tradition, both expansive and parochial. In-depth views of tiny portions of the world.
