In yet another jewel in superstar Rajinikanth’s crown, the release and distribution of the Telugu version of his upcoming film 2.0 have been sold for a whopping Rs.81 crore, which is easily more than the rates given to direct Telugu films starring some Tollywood superstars!
Directed by Shankar and produced at an unbelievable cost of Rs.400 crores by Lyka Productions, 2.0 has Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar playing the main antagonist opposite Rajini. Briton Amy Jackson plays the heroine thought not as Rajini’s love interest, as per reports received as on date. A.R Rahman as music director and Nirav Shah as cinematographer make the film a truly global one.
The ‘making of the film’ video, which is roughly 100-second long, was released last week on the eve of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ and was lapped up by Rajini’s die-hard fans and moviegoers as it received a record number of likes/views/downloads within 10 hours. Even before its release, the film has already started to net profits in crores for its producers.
The release and distributions rights of the Telugu-dubbed version of the film, acquired by Global Cinemas, has been sold for a whopping Rs.81 crore, which, according to trade pundits, easily beats the sum paid to direct films starring frontline Tollywood heroes. It may be recalled that the satellite broadcasting rights of the film has already been sold for Rs.110 crores!
