Chennai: Actress Oviya Helen, the much popular contestant in the ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ reality show hosted by veteran actor Kamal Haasan and aired by Vijay TV, who recently exited on medical grounds, has been summoned by the Nazarathpet police in connection with a complaint alleging that she had attempted suicide inside the sets of the show.
The complainant, an advocate, said that participants in the Bigg Boss Tamil show were required to stay inside a closed compound for 100 days and could leave the compound only with the permission of the producers.
He claimed that on August 4th, Vijay TV had telecast visuals of Oviya attempting to commit suicide by immersing herself in a pool inside the Bigg Boss house.
The Advocate urged the police to probe into her alleged suicide bid. The complainant further alleged that her suicide attempt was triggered by depression caused by the activities forced on her by the producers, the show’s host and Vijay TV. Hence, they had driven her to attempt suicide and telecast the same to gain in TRP ratings, he alleged.
Nazarathpet police Inspector Jaichandran said preliminary investigation is under way. “We have recorded the complaint in the Community Social Register (CSR). We spoke to Oviya’s personal secretary, who denied that she attempted suicide,” he told to India Live Today.
