Mumbai,August5:Though their debut production venture ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ (‘BHT’), starring Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan, didn’t fare well commercially, the team of Oddball Motion Pictures sees it as an opportunity to learn and start all over again. They are now upbeat about their line-up of movies, starting with the edge-of-the-seat thriller ‘Haadsa’, featuring Gulshan Devaiah and Sagarika Ghatge, which will be released as ‘Daav’ in Marathi.
Next in the pipeline is a quirky romance, ‘Quickie’. Currently under production, it has Darsheel Safary and debutante Palak Tewari essaying lead roles. Their flagship Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Captain Nawab’ is also being touted as the film to look out for in 2018. The production house will join hands with Tony D’Souza and Amul Mohan, alongside Emraan Hashmi Films, for this cross-border spy thriller.
Nitin Upadhyaya, the founder of Oddball Motion Pictures, says that his maiden production venture wouldn’t have been possible without Tony and Amul. In fact, he is looking forward to collaborating with them again for ‘Captain Nawab’ and two more ventures, which will be announced soon.
Nitin’s production house is also foraying into regional movies with senior actors Vikram Gokhale and Suhasini Mulay in a heartfelt story titled ‘Dev Devarath Nahi’. They will also be making Punjabi and Gujarati movies, which will be shot in the UK next year.
The team aspires to bring in a method to the madness with a simple ideology: ‘Will we be remembered for telling the story’ and ‘will we survive telling the story’. They have acquired the rights of five inspiring stories, which is being developed into scripts.
Their dreams are not limited to Indian cinema, as two of their upcoming projects represents the country globally. Their English film ‘Bloomage’ caters to worldwide audiences while ‘A Life Lost And Found’ continues to travel to several international forums.
When asked how their first year in business has been, Nitin said, “I will forever be grateful to the industry, which has been very kind to a new producer like me. I thank actors, technicians and studios for supporting my vision. I am also thankful to Zee Music Company that is distributing the soundtrack for my productions.”
