Hyderabad: On last month, Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal announced his forthcoming ambitious project ‘The Mahabharata’, which will be made on a massive budget of Rs 1000 crore. Middle-East based Indian Businessman BR Shetty is producing the all-time Big Budget movie.
According to the recent reports, the makers of the movie have approached Akkineni Nagarjuna to play the iconic character ‘Karna’ in the movie.
“My next movie after Raju Gari Gadhi 2, could be Mahabharata and I was asked by writer MT Vasudevan Nair to play Karna’s role in the film. I’m aware of V A Shrikumar Menon’s efforts to make the movie for the past four years and I got this offer, two years ago. Recently, MT Vasudevan Nair asked me once again for my dates. I told him I will be a part of the movie if my character is also given enough importance and the writer said, it will be a prominent role. I’m waiting for the project to shape up completely and then I can share more details about it” Speaking about his role, Nagarjuna Akkineni told to Behindwoods.
The movie Mahabharata will be made in two parts and is all set to go on the floors in September 2018. The first part of Mahabharata will hit the screens in 2020, while the second part will release 90 days after the first part. To be directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, the film is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s novel ‘Randamoozham”, which tells the story from Bheema’s perspective.
