Model Preeti Jain has been convicted by the city civil and sessions court to three years in jail. It also fined her Rs 10,000 for plotting to kill filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. Notably, the model has registered a rape case against the ace director earlier
Apart from Preeti, two of her associates, Naresh Pardeshi and Shivram Das, were also sentenced to three years on charges of conspiracy and abetting crime.
However, the trio was granted bail on cash surety of Rs 15,000 and was given four weeks to file an appeal in the Bombay high court.
“Some things are better left unsaid! Some things are better left as they are. Life moves on, so have I,” said Bhandarkar on the verdict in a tweet.
Jain approached Pardeshi to kill Bhandarkar in 2005, however, as the task was not finished, she asked her money back. The issue then reached to the police. A year before, she had filed a rape case against the filmmaker. She allegedly paid Rs 75,000 for the job to kill Bhandarkar.
