Ever since her role in Premam became a sensation, speculations were rife regarding Sai Pallavi’s debut movie in Tamil. She was initially cast opposite Karthi for legendary director Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai, but was later replaced by Bollywood beauty Aditi Rao Hydari. Then there were rumours about her pairing opposite Vikram in an upcoming movie directed by Vijay Chander who made his debut through Vaalu. However, the actress has put an end to all the speculations, signing her debut movie with Madhavan.

This movie, directed by AL Vijay is the official remake of Malayalam blockbuster Charlie. Sai Pallavi is reprising the role played by Parvathy Menon in the original.
